Baby — new beginnings: a project, a relationship, a self being born. A crying baby is traditionally a neglected plan asking for attention. Dreaming of a baby does not predict pregnancy, though it is among the most common dreams of expectant parents.

Bees — industry and community in the old dictionaries; being stung is a small betrayal in the hive of your daily life. Bees leaving a hive were once read as a household omen.

Bird — the classic freedom symbol. Caged birds read as constrained talent; a bird in the house was folk-feared as a death omen, a superstition with no better record than the rest.

Blood — vitality and cost. Bleeding in a dream is traditionally energy draining toward something — the question the old interpreters asked was where it was going.

Boat — passage across an emotional state; calm or stormy water does the interpreting. Missing a boat is the tradition's image for a missed chance, identical in force to missing a train.

Bridge — transition between two conditions. Crossing confidently, being unable to cross, and finding the bridge broken were read as three different verdicts on a decision in progress.

Burial — endings, and rarely literal. Burying something in a dream is the psyche's filing system; being buried alive is the tradition's picture of being overwhelmed — check the waking life for weight before consulting any dictionary.

Butterfly — transformation completed; the soul, in several folk traditions.
